Crime Prevention and General Patrol News.

Hello all.

I'm not wishing summer away but I thought I'd get in early and politely remind you to check that your flood lights, CCTV cameras and any other security devices are in working order ready for the darker evenings that are creeping up on us just so that we're prepared to keep those unwelcome visitors away!

Regularly wipe the lenses on your CCTV cameras and the immediate areas around it as those pesky spiders love the infrared, I suppose it must be like a radiator for them!

No doubt I will be reminding you again as the really short days come around.

In other news, on Thursday evening I joined the members of The Rotary Club Of Romney Marsh for their weekly meeting after they kindly invited me. I answered several questions that were asked regarding the policing of Romney Marsh which I think I must have given satisfactory answers to as they allowed me to leave!! In all seriousness though, they are a bunch of Marsh residents who raise money for local causes and as they are a charitable organisation I thought I'd mention them as I do when I visit any other charities on The Marsh.

You may see me driving around a lot and wonder, ‘what does that copper do all day apart from drinking coffee and eating doughnuts?’ well, yes I do like a cuppa and a doughnut but there's a lot I do that is not really of interest to you so I don't mention it here and of course some stuff I can't mention anyway as it's too ‘sneaky beaky’ or in other words ‘gathering intelligence’ with what I see and hear, this is all in the interests of your safety and security.

I also carry out crime enquiries for my colleagues who work in the Victim Based Crime Team at Folkestone police station, this is quite often to save them precious time in driving all the way from Folkestone and back for simple enquiries and of course they take advantage of my local knowledge!

A couple of weeks ago I popped along to the ploughing match at Caldecot Farm Lydd to join my colleagues from the Rural Task Force (RTF). It was a lovely warm day with some very good ploughing going on by our fantastic farmers!! I was behind the camera just in case you were wondering!

And whilst on my patrols I do like to take the odd photo here and there as I appreciate what a lovely area I have to work in!
