Equine Crime Prevention Advice

Good Morning Resident

Last week, PCSO Norton attended a riding school to offer advice and help with property marking Horse boxes and saddles.

Therefore, i would like to remind you of some ideas to help secure your horse yards/stables/horse boxes.

Here are a few recommendations from our crime prevention leaflet:

 • Security-mark important items, including vehicles and tack– the mark should be unique, in a non-obvious place and include your post code and house name or number. Security-marking options can include stamping, etching, UV marking and forensic solutions.

• Take a photograph of items, including any identifying marks, and keep them somewhere safe along with details including serial, chassis and model numbers.

• Check the perimeter of your land and make sure boundaries are as secure as possible. If possible, use good quality padlocks with covers to prevent them from being cut easily

• Consider installing CCTV to provide formal surveillance to the most vulnerable areas of the property.

• Consider using hitch locks, wheel clamps or ground anchors - you may require a combination of these measures to meet insurance requirements.

If you would like any further advice, or the full Equine Crime Prevention leaflet then please do send me a message
