Good evening residents of Birchington and Westgate on Sea,

   Today I was able to deploy and undertake static speed checks at three locations which have been raised to me by residents as experiencing frequent speeding vehicles. This highlights that community engagement with Kent Police will assist in directing our policing actions and resources, and re-affirms our commitment to keeping the roads safe. The results from the three locations are listed below, and I am hopeful I will be able to undertake further checks shortly.

Alpha Road, Birchington- 1 hour deployment-

- 2x e-scooters stopped and riders spoken with regarding the illegality of them. 

- No vehicles detected exceeding the speed limit.

Sea Road, Westgate on Sea- 42 minute deployment-

- 2x vehicles stopped and spoken with regarding exceeding the speed limit; both vehicles were travelling at 36mph.

- 1x motorcycle issues with a Traffic Offence Report having been recorded travelling at 41mph.

- 1x e-scooter stopped and rider spoken with regarding the illegality of them.

Westgate Bay Avenue, Westgate on Sea- 1 hour deployment-

- 2x vehicles stopped and spoken with regarding exceeding the speed limit; both vehicles were travelling at 37mph.

- 1x Traffic Offence Report issued to a motorcyclist travelling at 41mph.
