Successful event for women organised in Ashford

An event aimed at empowering women has been organised in Ashford by a Kent Police Community Liaison Officer.

CLO Catherine Stevens worked together with a clerk from Great Chart with Singleton Parish Council, Ani Szocs, to put on Women Together, a one-day event which included a variety of activities, including talks from Kent Police on the work being done against stalking and domestic abuse.

It attracted around 30 people who were able to hear presentations about inspirational women, learn more about organisations such as the Women’s Institute, take part in self-defence training and try out a Bollywood dance class.

The event was held at Singleton Village Hall on Friday 26 April 2024.

CLO Stevens said: ‘It was brilliant to see such a good turnout of people who took the time to get involved and listen and learn about staying safe from violence against women. Thank you to the partner agencies who supported the day.  The feedback has been so positive that we are now planning to replicate the event in other areas soon.’
