Folkestone and Hythe road safety campaign


Today officers from Community Safety Unit, Local Policing Team, Victim Based Crime Team, Road Safety Unit and Proactive Targeting Team were out in the Folkestone and Hythe area. Using a range of static and mobile patrols in marked and unmarked vehicles, officers have been patrolling Folkestone and Hythe in relation to a Road Safety campaign. 

 

 

Officers were on the look out for the fatal 4, persons using mobile phone while driving, persons not wearing seatbelts, speeding and drink and drug driving. 

 

Officers were out in Middleburg Square area, Shorncliffe Road, Cheriton Road,  Sandgate Road, Princes Parade, Sandgate Esplanade and Seabrook Road with the wider areas being patrolled. Officers have been dealing with a host of traffic offences, nuisance vehicle and offering advice in relation to the driving safety on the roads of Kent, in total:

 

- 6 persons reported for not wearing seatbelt

- 3 persons reported for Speeding

- 4 persons reported for No insurance 

- 1 person reported for driving with no licence

- 1 person reported for using Mobile Phone

- 2 persons reported for illegal tints

-  1 person reported for an illegal tyre

- 17 other motorists were spoken to regarding a host of other matters regarding road safety

 

A vehicle was stopped and persons arrested for possession of cannabis and possession of a knife along with other traffic offences including no driving licence.

 

Kent Police will continue to promote road safety through education and enforcement, with more operations planned for the future in different areas. Kent Police are passionate about making our roads a safer place for everyone.
